Answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding our skating schools.

SKATING SCHOOLS - WHERE AND WHEN CAN I JOIN?

Our Skating School groups practice according to the following schedule:


Skating school for 4-10 year old children in Myyrmäki:
 

On Sundays 
at 16:30 – 17:30

in Myyrmäki ice rink 1,

Raappavuorentie 10,

01600 Vantaa

 

(During the same session there is a skating school for 10-16 aged teenage girls in the other end of the ice rink)
 

Skating school for 4-10 year old children in Tikkurila:
 

On Wednesdays
at 18:00 – 19:00
in Trio Areena’s training ice rink,

01300 Vantaa


Skating school for 10-16 year old girls / teenagers in Myyrmäki:


On Sundays
at 16:30 – 17:30

Please notice that the participants of the Teenagers’ Skating School may also join our session on Wednesdays:

During the same session there is a skating school for the children in the other end of the ice rink.


You may join the skating school at any point of time during the season (September – April).​

It is mandatory to register in a skating school in advance, so that we are able to have a sufficient amount of coaches on the ice.

WHAT DO WE DO IN SKATING SCHOOL?

In the skating school you will learn to skate, get new friends and get to know girls’ own, joyful and fast ice sport ringette. The basic skills of the skating you will learn while we play together, use different kind of tracks and small games. You will learn to skate, get to know how to handle a ringette stick and a ringette ring. Additionally in the Skating Schools you’ll learn teamwork and empathy.

WHAT IF I'M REALLY NERVOUS TO COME TO SKATING SCHOOL?

Don’t worry! Be brave and come to try how it feels to have skates on the ice and use a ringette stick with a ring. If you wish, you may also just stay next to the ice rink to see what we do in the skating school when coming for the first time. Within the last seasons, we’ve had a energetic groups of 3-12 year old skating school students. Most important thing is, that you enjoy skating and ringette.

WHAT DO I NEED, SO I CAN ATTEND TO SKATING SCHOOL?
WHY IS IT BENEFICIAL TO LEARN TO SKATE AND PLAY RINGETTE?

Ability to skate on ice is a skill you acquire for a lifetime and which provides a lot of joy through life. Skating on ice is in many ways beneficial for healthy physical development and it supports the development of balance and agility. In Skating Schools we also learn teamwork and empathy.

Skating School enables a child with an opportunity to learn how to skate on ice and gain new friends. You’ll enter a vibrant and fast-paced sport and welcoming community – in ringette!

WHAT IS RINGETTE?

Ringette is one of the fastest team sports played on ice. It is primarily a female sport. Ringette is a positive, dynamic and a fast-paced sport played on ice, where pure physical strength is replaced by speed and skill. The sport was invented in Canada and in Finland ringette has been played now for over 40 years. In Finland we have around 4,000 registered players.

WHAT ARE THE COSTS OF SKATING SCHOOL?

You can attend to Skating School first three times for free. This we call so-called free trial period, after which you decide whether you want to continue at least for now. As the child continues after the free trial period, if the child attends once a week the cost is 25 euro’s per month. It is possible also to attend to skating school twice a week and then the monthly fee is 35 euro’s per month. In addition to the monthly fee once during the season, we invoice club membership fee 8 eur and seasonal fee of 50 eur.


The costs of skating school include:

 

  • Guided trainings on the ice

  • An Ice Card licence for skating/ringette schools with an accident insurance (information only in finnish behind this link)

  • Own ringette stick at childrens' skating school

  • A training shirt on loan

  • Ringette school tournament in spring
